Elise believes therapy is a brave and vulnerable journey that can be truly transformative. Their approach is warm, compassionate, and authentic, creating a therapeutic relationship that feels like a safe and sacred space. Their practice is deeply rooted in liberation and social justice principles, with careful attention to the social, cultural, historical, and political power dynamics that shape our experiences. Through thoughtful dialogue, creative exercises, and motivational interviewing, Elise helps clients explore their unique strengths, challenges, patterns, and hopes.

Elise draws from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, existential therapy, somatic therapy, and art therapy.  They aim to guide clients towards radical acceptance of fundamental truths-that as humans we will experience sickness, change, and grow older- and that we can discover  our power to move through life with intention along the way. They believe in evidence-based practice, but define evidence broadly, embracing science and cultural and spiritual knowledge as equally important sources of “proof.” Their ultimate goal is to support people in practicing being present, grounded, and patient with whatever unfolds in this precious lifetime. Elise is particularly passionate about working with elders (self-defined), caregivers, people facing death and their loved ones, people experiencing grief, people of LGBTQ+ experience, people of diasporic/immigrant experience, intergenerational pairs, and friend pairs.

key beliefs

  • Feelings are information. Learning to acknowledge and process them with compassion helps us see things clearer.

  • Every person is a universe, and change unfolds over seconds, minutes, hours, weeks, years, and generations. There is no rush, and there is no limit to what can be explored and revealed.

  • Interconnectedness is fundamental in existence. Liberation and healing happen through learning to care for ourselves, our bodies, other beings, and our planet.

more about me

Elise’s happy place is in or near any large body of water, and they enjoy a good, scenic hike. They spend a lot of time with music, listening and curating playlists/soundscapes. Moving their body in community is important, so they hit the dance floor at least once a month, play (casual) basketball with a LGBTQ+ BIPOC group, and hop on the Peloton every other day! Elise is also a poet and enjoys spending time crafting.
