Rebekah Raeburn
MSW, LCSW
Psychotherapist
Rebekah (she/her) is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who believes in the transformative and healing power of meaningful human connection. The choice to seek therapy often comes after many attempts to DIY our mental health–whether through consultation with friends, seeking advice online or in self-help books, or just simply toughing it out. Although all of those strategies can be helpful, they often leave you feeling stuck, alone, and frustrated. Meaningful therapy starts with meaningful connection. To that end, Rebekah seeks to meet clients where they are building a sense of safety, trust, and collaboration. She sees herself as a partner in the journey of change, working alongside her clients to build a deep understanding of their history, their needs, and their individual path towards change. Often we hear about the science of therapy: what evidence-based practices are chosen? While Rebekah is a proponent and practitioner of evidence based practices, she is a firm believer that therapy is a science combined with an art: the art of listening, understanding, collaborating. The art of human connection.
Rebekah specializes in working with trauma, helping patients identify and process the thoughts and feelings that keep them stuck in old patterns. She uses a person-centered and strengths-based approach to empower her clients to challenge previously held assumptions. In sessions, Rebekah seeks to create a welcoming and safe space for all through warmth, humor, and compassion. She has a background in working with marginalized populations and welcomes clients from a variety of backgrounds.
Rebekah has spent the last three years working in community mental health, providing outpatient individual therapy for a wide array of mental and behavioral health issues. She received her Master of Arts in Social Work from Jane Addams School of Social Work, UIC, and received additional training in Cognitive Processing Therapy to treat trauma. Prior to becoming a social worker, Rebekah was a wardrobe and props stylist in photography and film, combining art and science through the alchemy of print media.
